My Therapy Model For Alcohol Abuse Recovery
Cost: $400/month with commitment (non-contractual so you can leave if it isn’t working, or you can be asked to leave if you don’t follow the program guidelines) to one year up front. Some people may find themselves feeling healed after the first session. But it’s my belief that it is not an instant process, though the results can be instant for many with AVRT. A one year time frame though is needed to incorporate the model fully into one’s life. For those paying personally, I prefer payment via PayPal on a set day during the first 10 days of the month, but am willing to work within your own financial model or payment options that are best suited for you, and will help you explore the possibility of payment through insurance or FLEX/HSA accounts.
Group Session: Mandatory group discussion session for 3 hours in Denver, CO once a month. The group sessions are held on Sundays from 3PM to 6PM and you must attend once a month. Snow and weather and family considerations are understood, but the group discussion model is a must, and committing to one out of four or five Sundays is required to remain in the program. Note, this is not conventional group therapy where you will discuss your weaknesses or failings with the group, but rather an opportunity to better learn the AVRT model and to discuss it’s applications to our lives.
Weekly One on One: Once a week virtual one-on-one sessions generally 90 minutes in length will be held. (This may go shorter depending on your needs but will be at least an hour and have a somewhat structured format.) We can do this via the phone, through chat, social media, or whatever method works is most comfortable for you. We can schedule after work, during lunch, on the weekends, etc., with very flexible hours. If a time needs to change for an unforeseen family issue, trip, etc. That is fine as long as it is a rare event, but it must be made up.
Other access for immediate help: Access via text or chat or phone 7 days a week from 8AM to Midnight. If you really need me in the middle of the night, I’m willing as long as it’s rare, but I need to keep some free time. But when the AV hits, I’d rather talk to you about it then have you give in.
To Remain in the program The group session is mandatory, and if you miss an entire month you are out of the program. Some sessions may have the entire group, some may be one on one, and maybe we will have some weeks with no session held. For weekly meetings, you can reschedule if a critical need arises (family, work trip, or just lazy that day), once you’ve committed to a day and time for the one on one, but you can only miss one during the year (without makeup), or you are out of the program. I can only help you if you are motivated, and with the freedom to set times, and to make up a missed session, these are reasonable. Payment of fees stops if you are not in the program. I’m not going to make you pay for something that isn’t benefitting you.
Why I work this way: Luckily in life, both my partner and I have family means. The therapy work I do, and even going for higher education was and remains a passion for me. I’m writing my own self-help book, as well as a fictional novel on the side. I need a group to help to try out ideas and to work with towards a solution for them, as well as to work up my own ideas. I’m actively seeking to have 20 current clients, whose fees will cover office space, and other logistics so this is a passion and not a hobby. I’m currently at 16 clients for my addiction program. I encourage my clients to get to know each other, and to maintain relationships in person or via social media. I find having a network of people experiencing a similar point in life around you is beneficial as well. My plan may well seem expensive, and the rules for being a part of the program are somewhat harsh. But that is the model with which I’m working, and I’d encourage anyone not comfortable with those to look elsewhere.
